Hydrologists can be broadly divided into ‘surface-water hydrologists’, who concentrate on the monitoring, management and protection of surface water, and hydrogeologists, who study the distribution, flow and quality of ground water.
As a hydrologist or hydrogeologist, you could find yourself:
Collecting and interpreting data on the various stages of the water cycle;
Planning and developing sustainable ways of using water resources;
Promoting water conservation by communicating on predicted trends and impacts on water flow, quality and shortages;
Finding sustainable water supplies.
Your work would allow us to better manage and protect our water resources.
