Naval architect

Naval architect

Naval architects are engineers responsible for the design, construction and repair of seafaring vessels – from cargo ships and passenger liners to submarines and pleasure boats.

As a naval architect, your work could focus on:

  • Designing ships and boats and their components and specialist equipment;
  • Planning the whole process of building a vessel, from concept through to the final product;
  • Carrying out maritime research in universities and industry;
  • Conducting risk analysis of ships and marine structures, using international maritime standards.

Your work would contribute to the development of safe and more efficient maritime transport, making it easier for people, food and fuel to be transported.
