Robotics Engineer
Robotics engineers design, develop and maintain robots, and conduct research into robotics and its potential. Robotics is essentially the branch of engineering aimed at inventing and producing automated machines – from industrial, agricultural to military and beyond – that are capable of performing predefined tasks with a certain degree of independence.
As a robotics engineer, you could focus on:
- Designing and producing robots for hazardous tasks such as nuclear-safety operations or firefighting in dangerous locations such as collapsing buildings or confined spaces;
- Creating independent robots for space exploration (like the Mars rovers) and for medical applications (surgical robots for example).
Your work would:
- Contribute to a both safer and more comfortable society as robots are often created to perform tasks too dangerous or dirty for humans.
